Stumpjumper 15 CGI Animation and VFX
CGI animation and VFX created to support the launch of Specialized’s Stumpjumper 15 trail bike, focused on clearly articulating the behaviour of the new Genie air shock system within live-action riding footage.
THE CHALLENGE
The Genie air shock, developed in collaboration with Fox Racing, sits at the heart of the bike’s suspension system and relies on complex airflow routing and compression behaviour to deliver its performance benefits.
The challenge was to explain how the system works under real riding conditions while remaining accurate, intuitive, and aligned with Specialized’s performance-led storytelling.
THE APPROACH
We combined live-action riding footage with targeted CGI cutaways to reveal the shock's internal behaviour during compression events. Controlled transitions allowed the film to move seamlessly from real-world action into slow-motion internal visualisation, showing airflow routing and response under load.
In parallel, we overlaid compression visualisations directly onto riding footage captured from frame-mounted cameras. This allowed mechanics and behaviour to be communicated without callouts or technical overlays, keeping the narrative immediate and legible.
THE OUTCOME
The final content supported the global launch campaign while also providing Specialized’s technical teams with accurate, reusable assets for education and explanation. The CGI helped bridge rider experience and engineering reality, allowing the Genie system’s benefits to be understood without slowing the film or diluting its energy.
The work delivered clear, engineer-approved explanation at launch while maintaining the momentum and tone expected of a flagship performance product.
