Explaining Power Without the Weight

Visualising compact motor engineering in motion

The Challenge

TQ developed a compact e-bike motor system that delivered high torque with minimal weight and noise. The engineering breakthrough sat inside a harmonic pin ring drive, a system that was difficult to explain visually and unfamiliar to many riders and partner brands.

The challenge was to articulate how this internal mechanism worked and why it mattered, without overwhelming the viewer or resorting to abstract technical diagrams.

The goal was clarity that supported both marketing and technical understanding.

The Approach

Fakery structured the visual story in two stages.

First, we focused on explaining the internal engineering through controlled CGI sequences that revealed the harmonic drive system step by step. Motion, pacing, and visual metaphor were used to simplify the mechanical logic while maintaining accuracy.

Second, the motor was placed into a natural riding context, using a forest environment that aligned with TQ’s wider campaign and live-action assets. This ensured the technical explanation remained grounded in real-world use.

Revealing What Matters

Layered CGI was used to isolate and explain how the motor’s internal components interact to deliver smooth, uninterrupted power.

X-ray-style reveals and precise camera movement allowed viewers to see airflow, force transfer, and rotational behaviour without relying on labels or callouts. The focus remained on demonstrating performance benefits rather than describing them.

Complexity was revealed only where it added understanding.

The Outcome

The final deliverables extended beyond a single hero film.

Fakery produced a modular library of assets, including short-form loops, web-ready sequences, and adaptable visuals that could be reused across product marketing, partner communication, and technical education.

The CGI provided TQ with a clear, consistent way to explain a complex system to multiple audiences and across multiple channels.
